Acid Base Staining
  • Unique, permanent stain
  • Will not chip, crack, fade or peel
  • Adds color to uncolored concrete
  • Changes the tone of existing colored concrete
  • Reduces glare
  • Enhances hardscape projects, interior finishes and artificial rock features

Acid base stains lightly etch and penetrate "bare" new or existing concrete and chemically form permanent insoluble colored precipitates that remain in the concrete's pores. These stains may also be used to treat other cementious materials (such as terrazzo, certain self-leveling and other toppings, gunite, shotcrete, stucco and cement plaster) as well as natural stone with a chemistry similar to concrete, i.e. marble, limestone, etc. Our acid base stains produce a variegated patina look, similar to the patination of bronze or the natural oxidation of copper.

Acid base staining is an "old world" method, most popular around the turn of the 19th century, and seeing a resurgence of current day application and use. A wide variety of artistic and graphic effects are possible.

Stained concrete provides permanent decorative finishes that range from subtle hues and tones to dramatic vibrant colors and patterns. We install both water-based tints and acid stains, in all types of companies and environments. We will work closely with you to achieve that "special look". Our expertise in installing epoxy and urethanes allows us to offer much more durable topcoats than the water based coatings most companies install over stained concrete.
